What I caught so far is that Delaney possesses small land on Vancouver Island, the notorious Nootka sound. As it seems,it's direct gates to trade with China, and as British and Americans are at war,its also a border dispute, hence why they both want it.As for EIC I think it's for it's trading benefits(And maybe to in a way control a crown but not so sure about that one). What Delaney wants is his own trading empire, starting with simple trading post between Delaney's company and Nootka tribe that he would build a much bigger monopoly from.Since it is of such importance, they all want Delaney either dead or cooperating with them, but due to him making a document in which the land goes to americans in case of his death,EIC and Crown are kinda restrained from killing him in a way.Now I don't know if that's still on the table given the involvement of Lorna Delaney (H.Delaney's widow) who has claim on half of the Nootka Sound by marriage disputal and for that EIC and Crown are trying to get to her. What Delaney is doing is he's trying to make his own little coordinated army throughout the London to be his eyes and ears and extra limbs, with him being the head and brain. So right now,he's trying to please americans cos they're the only ones that can screw him over and have the most information.Everyone takes their own side, and in each episode something new comes up and each party needs to make a different move to stay in the game,in a way.
